Direct Housing Provision: Students & Staff Supported in Home Away from Home
At Redeemer’s University, housing is more than a dorm room or staff quarters it’s a commitment to making education and employment sustainable, secure and affordable. From student hostels designed with room-sharing models, to staff quarters receiving major refurbishment, the institution presents a multifaceted approach to accommodation that supports its community.
Student Accommodation: Designed for Affordability and Community
The University’s on-campus accommodation offers a clear structure: most undergraduate students live in purpose-built halls (e.g., Queen Esther Hall for females, Prophet Moses Hall for males). Rooms are typically shared, three students per ensuite room, enabling cost efficiency. These shared-room models help ensure affordability for students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, aligning with the University’s aim to provide lower-cost housing without compromising on quality of residence life.
Staff Housing: Direct Provision and Ongoing Investment
For staff, housing is recognised as a key welfare priority. In the Vice-Chancellor’s address, it was noted that “virtually all members of staff are presently enjoying the provision of accommodation” and that over ₦12.4 million had been expended on refurbishment of staff quarters. This demonstrates the University’s direct role in providing staff residences and maintaining them to acceptable standards.
The on-site housing and refurbishment strategy show that the University is directly providing housing rather than leaving staff entirely to the local market. This provides staff with a stable, university-facilitated home environment which supports retention, productivity and community stability.
